Biography

 

Mr Philip Clamp is a Consultant Adult and Paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon. He was appointed as a consultant in 2014 and undertakes specialist duties at University Hospitals Bristol (St Michael's Hospital and The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children), Southmead Hospital and The Spire “Glen” Hospital, Bristol.

In addition to general adult and paediatric ENT, he has developed a specialist interest in all aspects of otology (conditions of the ear) including hearing loss, tinnitus, chronic ear infections, glue ear, inner-ear balance disorders, hearing implants and lateral skull base surgery. He is a core member of the regional Skull Base service at Southmead Hospital and regularly undertakes complex skull base surgery with his neurosurgical colleagues.

Mr Clamp trained at the University of Oxford before completing higher surgical training throughout the Southwest. He undertook a clinical and research fellowship in Melbourne Australia, at the world-renowned Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and University of Melbourne.

 

Mr Clamp has an interest in ENT research and is a Lecturer and Research Fellow with the University of Bristol. He was elected to the council of the British Society of Otology in 2016.
